Consciously choose your response

A Thought for the Week

"You can't always choose your circumstances, but you can always choose your response."  ~  Many, many very wise people!

"We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes." ~ Charles R. Swindoll

"The one thing you can't take away form me is the way I choose to respond to what you do to me.  The last of one's freedoms is to choose one's attitude in any given circumstance."  ~  Viktor Frankl

"The more you bring your choices into the level of your conscious awareness, the more you will make those choices that are spontaneously correct – both for you and those around you."  ~  Deepak Chopra

  1. Not too long ago, I posted that same quote by Swindoll on my blog. I believe it’s so true — as are all of the other quotes you have posted here. We really ARE in control of how we react to any situation. No matter how bad or good a situation may be, it’s up to us to choose our reaction. Great quotes! Thanks!

It truly is all about the choices we make. We choose how to react or not react to that which comes our way and this is where we have the opportunity to choose peace, to choose love or to choose some ego based reaction that gives us angst.

    Hi PP,
when I chose this quote I was aware that I’d come it across it already recently, but couldn’t remember where. Now I know ;-)
    Hi Mark,
You’re so right. Not matter what’s going on in our lives, we can always choose peace and love. The trick is to be aware that this choice is available to us, and then to consciously choose it!
